W5112  John James ESTEP, son of John and Mary Ann (Daugherty) ESTEP, was born in MD about 1837. The family moved to OH about 1842 and then to MI in 1850.   They settled in Ionia Co.

About 1860 John James married Eleanora TRIM.  She appeared as Elnora, age 18, on the 1860 Ionia Co. census with John in his father's household.  Her death record gave her name as Eleanora and she was known in the family as Eleanor.  John and Eleanora had three children before her death in 1868.  She is buried in Portland City Cemetery, Portland, MI.  Little John ESTEP appeared on the 1870 census with an unrelated family.  The whereabouts of Ella and Mary Orleana after their mother's death is unknown.

John J. ESTEP married again in 1879 to Louisa BELCHER and they had two children.  John J. ESTEP was on the 1900 MI soundex in Ionia Co. as age 63 and born in MD.

John James ESTEP died 24 Dec 1919 and is buried in Portland City Cemetery, Portland, MI next to Eleanora (TRIM) ESTEP.  Louisa (BELCHER) ESTEP died in 1942 and her burial location has not yet been found.

W51122  Mary Orleana ESTEP born 8 Aug 1865 MI and died 27 Mar 1923,
buried in Fife Lake Cemetery; married c1886 to Earland NEWELL.  They settled
in Fife Lake, Grand Traverse Co., MI.  In her letter dated Apr 1886 to her father
and step-mother, she stated that she married Earl about 5 weeks before.
